Tiger Stadium

Corsicana ISD

Early Planning Process
Architects worked closely with admins & board members to develop ideas. District wanted to update current high school including new academic, administration, & athletic wings. District also wanted stadium that would serve for years. Sites are located adjacent to one another to allow for ease of access between facilities. Extensive studies were conducted including stadium tours for admins to help them decide what they wanted. Community, media & sponsors helped get project off ground.

Value:
Great effort was put into stadium to create a special place for district. This was done in details instead of elaborate structure. Press box is supported by concreted columns & made of simple studs & drywall. It is wrapped in colored metal. Materials provide a low cost alternative & are still durable. Video scoreboard will pay district back in time; district now has place for sponsors to advertise to generate revenue for athletics. Concessions will bring in funds to support clubs & activities.

Design:
Home Side Seating: (5491 Total)
3870 Standard Seats, 1505 Chairs, 58 ADA Spaces, 58 Companion Seats.
Visitor Side Seating: (4040 Total)
3944 Standard Seats, 48 ADA Spaces, 48 Companion Seats.
Design includes: 4 Restroom/Concession buildings conveniently located at the four corners of the stadium, 22740 Sq. Ft. Athletic Field House, 3 Story Press Box accessible from stands.

Educational Appropriateness:
Stadium was built to provide an opportunity for students to showcase their hard work & commitment. The stadium provides motivation to accomplish goals and gives them a sense of pride in the accomplishments. Entire district now has a place to house a variety of competitions for athletics & arts. The stadium has united the community once again in support of their students. The stadium has created a common ground for people to get involved w/ others within the district.

Innovation:
Design of campus emphasizes the idea that a stadium is made up of much more than just bleachers. Details of the project are what unify the whole site into a complete stadium complex. From entry gates to concessions stands and field, the district’s name & logo is emphasized as the central focus. This allows patrons to recognize & take pride in their district and students. The press box and score board are state of the art for a high school stadium & have set a new standard for stadium design.
